Beginnings
From 1995, Lars Hammer (founder) began developing outerwear designs for the brand then known as Nimbus The Jacket Company. Next in development – based on timeless outerwear designs – the brand introduced elegantly designed softshell jackets to the market. In 2009, a range of high-quality tracksuits was launched, followed by the addition of hoodies, crewnecks and cardigans – all made from long-staple Egyptian cotton.
After the Scandinavian markets, in the following years opportunities opened up in the UK and Germany as well as in countries further south. In Poland, our company is the exclusive partner of Nimbus, of which we are very proud.
The philosophy of “slow fasion”
This new trend, opposed to excessive consumerism, fits perfectly into the Nimbus philosophy. A sensible, thoughtful and conscious approach to fashion and wardrobe content – limits the disastrous effects of ill-considered, unnecessary and excessive purchases. A longer service life of clothing products is possible thanks to high quality and timeless design. The brand is strongly committed to raising awareness among consumers, suppliers and business partners – communicating how important it is to protect the environment and minimize human impact on it.
By consciously choosing clothing produced using organic cotton, stronger fibers, certified and meeting the highest quality standards – the customer supports activities for sustainable development and becomes part of something “important” and “essential”. In the literal sense of the word, “free fashion” is a value that is a quality in itself and if it changes, it changes consciously and slowly towards development and not following a momentary whim. Having fewer clothes but high quality and classic, neutral design – you can add more wisely and consciously, rather than changing or replacing them with new ones.
The perfect duo – quality and sustainability
The company positions itself as a Premium brand, consistently meeting subsequent quality standards and obtaining numerous certificates. Product quality goes hand in hand with care for the planet and emphasis on sustainable development. The company’s priority is to minimize the impact on the environment, including for the sake of future generations.
These very well-thought-out activities were developed and implemented based on the ” Sustainable Development Journal ” created by Nimbus and followed by the company. In order to fulfill its CRS obligations, the brand announces that it begins the production process – with a carefully considered selection of partners with whom it intends to cooperate. Having the option of audits and assessment tools at its disposal, it consciously selects and monitors factories that meet high standards in the sustainable development process. It focuses on solid and long-term business relationships, based on similar values and an approach to environmental protection.
The Sustainable Development Journal documents and acknowledges efforts and achievements to protect the environment. It also presents applicable certificates and logos, as well as information about trusted partners.
Certificates and thoughtful selection of partners
Positioning itself on the market as a brand offering the highest quality products, its portfolio includes numerous certificates and markings valued around the world.
Nimbus cooperates with factories audited by AMFORI and SMETA, where over 90% of the brand’s production takes place. Communicates and supports activities aimed at verifying ethically responsible business practices. The responsible selection of suppliers with similar values in the field of sustainable development is consistent and consistent with the company’s image and policy.
When choosing partners, the company pays attention to their compliance with the European regulation on the safe use of chemicals marked with the REACH certificate. It establishes procedures for collecting and assessing information on the properties and hazards of substances. The purpose of the above-mentioned activities is the protection of human health and the environment, and the tools to control this process are the system of registration, evaluation, authorization and limiting the use of chemicals.
Giving priority to customer safety, Nimbus is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified. This is one of the most famous certificates in the world informing that clothing has been tested for harmful substances (including heavy metals and pesticides). It also guarantees that the material meets the requirements of the pH standard.
The company offers DOWN INSULATION certified clothing. Down is considered the best heat insulator, so using it guarantees the highest quality of clothing protecting against cold. Additionally, it is biodegradable and recyclable – therefore it has a negligible impact on the environment. Suppliers selected by Nimbus guarantee a ban on live plucking, thus supporting the ethical aspect of using down.
When supporting sustainable development, it is natural to use “recovered” materials. RECYCLED FABRIC is a designation for recycled fabrics that use mainly plastic bottles, packaging and fishing nets as raw materials.
Another example of “recycled” materials are products marked SUGENRO®. It is recycled thermal insulation wool, perfectly used in the textile industry. GRS Approved Sugenro® Fiber is made from recycled polyester and provides a fill that provides warmth and breathability while being environmentally friendly.
One of the most famous and recognizable certificates in the world is the ORGANIC COTTON mark, informing that the organic cotton used to produce clothing was grown without the use of pesticides, artificial fertilizers and other toxic substances. The plants used for its production could not come from genetically modified seeds. Strict standards specify exactly how cotton must be grown – to obtain this organic certification.
Another mark for products certified according to the Organic Content Standard is OCS. How is it different from ORGANIC COTTON? It contains information that the clothing is made of organically grown cotton, verified every stage of the supply chain – from source to final product. It is grown and certified according to organic farming standards, meeting high requirements for practices to maintain ecosystems.
While maintaining the consistency of the idea of sustainable development with the brand concept, Nimbus boasts the BIONIC-FINISH® ECO certificate. It is an ecological, unique technology free from APEO and fluorine – used with a durable hydrophobic finish . This type of hydrophobic impregnation provides protection against water, moisture and dirt – thanks to its thin protective structure. It is washable and suitable for all types of fibers. A huge advantage is the lack of restrictions affecting breathability and the fact that it does not contain fluorinated compounds and formaldehyde. BIONIC-FINISH® – is registered as a trademark of RUDOLF GmbH
It is also worth mentioning the SPANO certificate – an innovative solution for shirts that do not require ironing. In this case, Spano’s “Advanced Cotton ” technology is used. Instead of using conventional methods – applying chemicals to the finished product – Inside Cross Linking technology is used, which allows affecting the core of textile fibers from the inside. The result is OKO-TEX® certified fabrics and shirts that do not require ironing, with exceptionally high elasticity recovery and guaranteed flattening after washing.
Bearing in mind the company’s priority approach to quality, it is worth mentioning the SORONA® AURA certificate, which is a top-class fiber that meets strict standards, among others. in terms of warmth, breathability and weight. It is characterized by durability, high level of extensibility, regeneration and resistance to washing. It is partly of plant origin and can be recycled – which fits perfectly into the philosophy of sustainable development.
The company uses the latest technologies and its portfolio includes products marked with the HEIQ® FRESH certificate. This is a range of silver-free, odor-controlling textile technologies. The products contain ingredients of biological or mineral origin. The problem of unpleasant odors in textiles is solved by adsorption of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compound), meaning “volatile organic compounds”. They permanently bind particles with unpleasant odors, thanks to which clothes stay fresh for a long time.
What’s the point of all this?
An appropriate, common-sense approach to fashion and consumerism is crucial today to protect our planet. Nimbus, choosing the path of development through systematic and consistent support for conscious development, joins the group of prestigious companies based on the highest quality and valued values. The requirements placed on suppliers, factories and partners are consistent with the brand policy. Lasting change begins with the way of thinking and mentality – and is followed by practice, i.e. all actions towards a common goal. The company clearly and directly communicates that its priorities are: the highest quality, long product life, timelessness and supporting sustainable development at every level of the company’s development and in every business relationship . Our company fully identifies with these values, which is why we greatly appreciate the cooperation with Nimbus – especially since we are its only recipients in Poland. Sem’s calling card Print (in addition to products) are also business partners at the highest level.
